Savor the flavor of the wines and brews of Virginia’s “Northern Neck”, all in one afternoon, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Northern Neck Wine & Brew Tasting Festival at Rice’s Hotel / Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville gathers local wineries and breweries on the grounds behind this historic building, the last surviving 1700’s era structure of its kind in the Northern Neck. Food will also be available for purchase.
Come early for Heathsville’s Farmers Market, the first of the season, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located on the adjacent grounds and pavilion, this monthly event includes a large offering of fresh local produce, baked goods, meat and eggs, flowers and nursery plants, and handcrafts. The day’s festivities also include an earth day celebration, quilt show & sale, and food.
The Tavern’s active artisan groups will be on-site, including the Blacksmith Guild in the Tavern’s Forge, Spinners and Weavers Guild, Quilters Guild, and Woodworkers Guild. Inside the historic Tavern itself is the Artisan Cafe’ and the “Heritage Arts Center” gift shop, where visitors will find active artist studios and locally-made artisan wares for sale.
