Both food and craft beverage lovers have a reason to visit The George Washington, A Wyndham Grand Hotel this summer. Executive Chef, Will McNeill, has created menus that celebrate and reimagine the food of the south. True to his southern roots, McNeill’s culinary creations represent the delicious dishes he grew up cooking alongside his grandmother. While also exhibiting the French influence of his professional culinary education.
Experience an elegant, yet charmingly casual atmosphere brimming with old-fashioned southern hospitality in the hotel’s trendy tavern George’s Food & Spirits. Relish a seasonal menu inspired by local farms and farmers. Menu items are fresh and cooked to order consisting of the finest locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients that Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley have to offer. Chef Will believes that southern food doesn’t have to be served traditionally to taste great. The eclectic southern offerings may look a little upscale. However, they still retain the same wonderful traditional flavors one should expect of quality southern cooking. Quaint and comfortable outdoor patio seating is available.
The Half Note Lounge, a fashionable gathering spot, presents a creative cocktail menu, a fine collection of small-batch bourbons, whiskey and scotch, a unique wine list, and cold craft beer. Partake in a light, southern fare menu with a global influence. The food is not fussy, but sure to please the palate. Good food and quality service are complemented by the good company; the upscale, yet laid-back atmosphere, is a perfect spot for a date night or friendly get-together. Enjoy live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. Happy hour specials are available from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm Monday-Thursday. Lounge guests are welcome to enjoy the summer season under the twinkling lights of an intimate outdoor Pocket Garden.
After three months of ardent cleaning, rearranging, disinfecting, and menu creation in the wake of Covid-19, it is time to open the doors and welcome guests. The Half Note Lounge will begin serving guests on Friday, June 19. George’s Food & Spirits will celebrate a Grand Reopening on Friday, July 3.
